Wouldn't it be nice to just be able to take a pill and suddenly wake up one morning and find that you can play guitar like Eric Clapton? Films like Matrix featured this concept, but Hollywood is Hollywood and real life, as everyone knows, is quite different.

Although this magic pill does not exist when it comes to learning to play the guitar, one thing is certainly true: If the lessons you have chosen are not well structured and laid out, your learning curve will be more of a straight horizontal line, gently inclined upwards.

When I was young, I earnestly wanted to learn to play the guitar, but we were five children in my family so money was quite scarce, and I had to learn 'the hard way'. This trial & error method worked, as I now realize that I was quite musically inclined and very set on my goal, but I ended up spending a lot of time needlessly. What I learned in my first five years of consistent 6 hour daily sessions, could easily have been learned with a proper method and teacher in less than 6 months ...and spending just an hour a day on the instrument!

I can tell you first hand that there is a big difference between learning the right way and the wrong way. Experienced teachers and good methods will make you progress like you've never dreamed possible. And if your problem is money there's a very good alternative to hiring a private teacher: Online guitar lessons.

For less than $100 you can get quality lessons with videos, backing tracks, TAB plus musical notation and software bonuses to boot! Sure, you can find free lessons all over the web, but having the information is no guarantee you'll know how to use it effectively to learn quickly.

As a beginner guitarist, you need someone to tell you what goes first and what follows in a step-by-step manner. Yours is the goal you wish to achieve, but it's up to a well structured course to get you there.

Ruben Cardos has been a non stop studio and live musician as well as sound technician, electronics technician and sporadic guitar teacher for well over 25 years. Check out the ultimate Online Electric Guitar Lessons reviews at:

Play Acoustic Guitar with Coldplay

Do you have a Latin girlfriend or boyfriend? Then you know what it feels like when they unleash their words of passion in Spanish during your private moments.

Would you like to give it back at them?

You don't need to speak fluent Spanish. Learn to ignite the fire of your lover with some sexy and romantic phrases in their own language. Heck, you can even turn on lovers who don't even speak Spanish with a few well timed passionate phrases.

Here are a few ways to use this hot, sexy language to your advantage.

Learn a Few Phrases

The first step is to learn some sexy or romantic Spanish words and phrases. Here's a couple to begin with.

My love. Mi amor. (mee ah-mohr.)

I've never felt this way before. Nunca me he sentido as. (noon-kah meh eh sehn-tee-doh ah-sEE.)

I've been thinking about you. He estado pensando en ti. (eh ehs-tah-doh pehn-sahn-doh ehn tee.)

I can't live without you. No puedo vivir sin ti. (noh pweh-doh vee-veer seen tee.)

I want you. Te deseo. (teh deh-seh-oh.)

I love you. Te amo. (teh ah-moh.)

Kiss me. Bsame. (bEH-sah-meh.)

Make love to me. Hazme el amor. (ahs-meh ehl ah-mohr.)

Pronunciation and Accent

Knowing the words and phrases is a good start. But they will be most effective if you say them the right way. Before you attempt to melt your lover with words, practice.

Number one, pronounce the word correctly. If you know someone who speaks the language, ask them to demonstrate the word or phrase for you. If you don't know someone who speaks Spanish, find a book or website that "spells out" each word phonetically.

Also, really try to understand what each word in a phrase means. Actually knowing what you are saying when you say it, and actually meaning it, will put more power behind the words.

After you have gotten the pronunciation down, practice saying the word or phrase over and over again. Do it whenever you are alone and have a free moment, like when you are riding in the elevator, putting gas in the car, washing dishes, and so on. You want to practice so much that, eventually, the words roll effortlessly off your tongue.

Spanish is one of the sexiest languages around. And, by learning a few simple words and phrases, you can begin to master the art of making love with words.

Jsson Vachon lived in Latin America and is the author of Hook Up Spanish, a guide to hooking up, dating and romance in Spanish. For a free mini-phrase guide to these subjects click the following linkhttp://www.hookupspanish.com/ebook/

We are living in a world that runs on high speed 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In order to keep up, we have to be smart in planning our time and scheduling the things that are really important. Unfortunately for moms, we tend to put ourselves last, thinking that once everything else gets done, we can have some time for ourselves. We are lucky if this happens once in a while. We all know how important it is to exercise and maintain good health, we have heard the lectures about how we are more healthy, better parents when we choose to exercise and how we will live longer and be around to enjoy our children. So here are some tips to help you fit exercise into your busy life.

Tip #1 Always be prepared

Have a bag with your gym clothes and anything else you need to workout on hand. Keep it in the trunk of your car, if you have some extra time at work, you can take a walk, or if you get off early you can stop by the gym on the way home. Always having what you need on hand, takes away that excuse.

Tip #2 Think ahead

If you chose one day of the week and cook several meals ahead of time, you will not only have extra time to take a walk with your kids, it will eliminate the fast food drive through stop if you have had an especially crazy day.

Tip #3 Dance Dance Dance

Put in your favorite music and call the kids in to dance with you. There are games that incorporate dance, like Twister Moves, or you can just freestyle. This is great quality time that you can spend with your kids, encouraging their creativity and teaching them that it can be fun to move.

Tip # 4 Make an Appointment

Set an alarm for when it is time to exercise, when it goes off, stop what you are doing and take some time to move. I want to say let your kids know this is mommies time to exercise, but when you have really little ones it can be hard. Do the best you can to keep the commitment you make to yourself, to take care of yourself and you will feel better in many ways.

Tip #5 Have a family activity night

There are many family traditions when a family eats together. Break the mold and create traditions where your family moves together. Take a walk after dinner, when it is warm enough outside. See how many different trees you can find or how many types of butterflies you can spot. When I walk with my kids, they go to bed better and they really love the time we spend outside. There are many other activities you can do as a family. Have a family meeting and brainstorm things that your family would love to do together.

These are some easy ways that you can find time to exercise. Remember that you are setting an example for your children, not only that it is important to exercise but that they need to take time to take care of themselves, this is a lesson that will serve them well in life.

Over 90% of diets fail. Don't be another statistic! You can have the body you always dreamed of!

Diez Deditos and Other Play Rhymes and Action Songs from Latin America

Singer-songwriter José-Luis Orozco has assembled a collection of finger rhymes and other action songs from Latin America. Including favorites such as "The Wheels on the Bus" as well as folk songs from a variety of Spanish-speaking countries, Diez Deditos is a treat for the eyes, ears, and fingers. Lyrics are presented in both English and Spanish, and easy-to-follow musical accompaniment and diagrams for the corresponding actions are also provided. As in the companion volume De Colores, bright collage illustrations by Elisa Kleven complete the appeal of this fun-filled book.
Customer Review: Great Songs!
I teach preschool and the kids love these songs! I really like that each song has hand gestures to do along which keeps the kids engaged on the song. I also ordered the CD soundtrack which makes it easier for me to memorize songs and the kids love to sing along with it.
Customer Review: high quality music comes from our roots
I have used this CD for about 7 years as part of my prekinder bilingual curriculum, and it has been very successful with my students. Also, I know it is quality children's folk music because I have studied in detail children's folk music from Mexico, and most of these selections are easily validated as original folk music. You can be sure they are not contrived at all by adults for children. I recommend the book that goest with it, too.

The August Sessions

If your young ballerina, tap dancer or hip-hop performer starts to express more anxiety than excitement there are ways to help.

Firstly, you may be hearing expressions of natural stage fright, which almost everyone feels when the reality of opening night strikes - even if just for a few moments.

If you have a child that worries, let her/his teacher know that he/she needs encouragement as well as corrections. Remind your child of compliments regarding their dancing you may have overheard from the studio or stage area.

Some dance teachers like to provide each student with the music of their dances, so that they can practice mentally. When they are resting with their sore feet up at home, they can visualize and feel themselves performing, applying their corrections over and over. The earlier they learn this the better. It is a method that actually helps develop neural pathways and better performance. This is a great way to increase confidence, without getting exhausted, or spraining and straining muscles.

Having a couple of soft ice packs handy at home eases aches and pains.

For older children, remind them about good nutrition. While a lot of sugar can be a tranquilizer, it also weakens the muscles. And for many children sugar is an irritant and increases nervousness.

Fruit is a wonderful source of the minerals that get lost in excessive perspiring....and that, along with good water, is something that students can have with them during long rehearsal days. Replacing minerals and staying hydrated (frequent sips, don't wait until your throat is dry) also helps prevent muscle spasms.

Backstage volunteers can help by remaining cheerful and calm no matter what happens. If a child freezes up in the wings, deep breathing can remedy it. Practicing deep breathing is a good idea during staging rehearsals, while kids are in the wings waiting for their entrances.

Speaking of waiting... modern theaters are often chilly with air conditioning. Your child will need leg warmers, even sweats, to keep their muscles warm during the staging rehearsals.

Having them ready with everything they will need in the dressing room, with some Band Aids, a sewing kit, extra hair pins and nets - anything that could be suddenly required - will reassure a worrier that all angles are covered. Aside from that, it is a good professional habit to ingrain in aspiring dancers.

Natural stage fright turns into exhaltation when the performances are done and well received - and hopefully that won't wear off for a while. And parent volunteers get to share that with the joy of seeing their child close a year of hard work at the barre by getting to dance for you!

Did you know?

France is the birthplace of Pierre de Coubertin, who is the father of the Olympic Movement. This Frenchman was born on January 1, 1863 in Paris. Pierre once said, "The Olympic Movement gives the world an ideal which reckons with the reality of life, and includes a possibility to guide this reality toward the great Olympic idea".

The Summer Olympic Games were held in Paris in 1900. For the first time, sportswomen were allowed to compete in the Olympics ( six tennis players ). France won first place in the Games with 26 gold, 41 silver and 34 bronze medals.

Marie-Jos Prec was one of France's greatest sportswomen. She was born in Guadeloupe ( Caribbean island ) and moved to France with her mother when she was sixteen. Marie-Jose became the second female athlete in the history of the Olympic Games to sweep the 200m and 400m ( Atlanta'96 ).

Like Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana and Reunion, New Caledonia -French territory in Oceania- is not member of the International Olympic Committee ( IOC ). Why? France does not allow its territories to compete in the Olympics. For this reason, New Caledonia's athletes can not compete in the Olympic Games. Unlike Guam ( American territory ), Aruba ( Dutch territory ) and Bermuda ( British territory ), it did not compete in the 2004 Olympics. Ironically, New Caledonia has several famous sportspeople in the South Pacific. Aquatics: Olivier Saminadin, Thomas Dahlia, Thomas Chacun, Reine-Victora Weber, Lara Grangeon, Diana Bui-Duyet, Adeline Williams and Gilles Durnesnil. Archery: Laurent Clerte, Emmanuel Guilhard, Henry Shiu, Isabelle Soeno and Sylvena Plazenet. Athletics: Vaikula Elise Takosi, Candice Soulisse, Erwin Casser, Bertrand Vili, Eric Frederic, Bina Ramesh, Eric Revillard, Phoebe Wejieme and Daniel Kilamo. Badminton: Nicolas Martoredjo, Florent Mathey, Marc-Antonie Desaynoz, Johanna Kou and Cecile Sarengat. Boxing: Christophe Lestage, Ataale Gyan and Hannequin Benoit. Judo: Sandrine Perel, Kyo Lussaud, Melissa Kaddour, Stephane Courtine, Jonathan Berger, Cyril Chevalier, Paul Dulac, Abedis Trindade de Abreu, Vaea Chadfeau and Diane Hillaireau. Sailing: Chrisptophe Renaud, Alban Rossollin, Feri Malhieu, Michael Borde, Cawle Dabin and Paiscillia Poaniewa. Shooting: Theodore Tein Weiawe, Fabrice Azarro and Phillipe Sinoni. Table tennis: Frederic Quach, Laurent Sens, Maxime Bataihard, Ornella Bouteille and Alexandra Heraclide. Taekwondo: Annie Odino, Kevin Belhameche, John Trouilet and Arnord Sariman. Tennis: Julien Couly, Elodie Rogge and Nickolas Ngodrela. Triathlon: Oliver Bargibant, Stephane Lacroix and Benedicte Meunier. At the last South Pacific Games held in Apia ( Samoa / formerly Western Samoa ) in November 2007, it finished 1st among 22 countries and territories. Certainly, New Caledonia has won more international gold medals per capita than any other country of the South Pacific.

Paris hosted the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship in 1986. Final standings: 1.United States, 2.USSR ( currently Russia ), 3.Bulgaria, 4.Brazil, 5.Cuba, 6.France, 7.Argentina, 8.Czechoslovakia (currently Czech Republic/Slovak Republic), 9.Poland, 10.Japan, 11.China, 12.Italy, 13.Greece, 14.Venezuela, 15.Egypt, 16.Taiwan.

Jean Schopter became the first Frenchman to win the Roland Garros in 1892.

France send 243 athletes to the 1984 Los Angeles Games. It participated in 19 sports: archery ( 2 ), athletics (45), basketball ( 12 ), boxing ( 4 ), kayak ( 14 ), cycling ( 16 ), equestrian ( 11), fencing ( 20 ), football ( 17 ), gymnastics ( 9 ), wrestling ( 16 ), modern pentathlon ( 3 ), rowing ( 22 ), shooting ( 15 ), swimming ( 19 ), tennis ( 4 ), weightlifting ( 2 ), wrestling ( 8 ), sailing ( 12 ).

This European country won the gold medal in soccer at the 1984 Olympic Games in the United States.

France is the birthplace of fencing. Fencing was made part of the official program for the Olympics at the 1896 Athens Games.

Paris has hosted the Summer Olympics in 1924. There were 3,092 athletes from 44 countries who competed in 19 sports: athletics, aquatics, boxing, cycling, diving, equestrian, fencing, gymnastics, modern pentathlon, polo, rowing, rugby, sailing, shooting, soccer, tennis, water polo, weightlifting, wrestling. France came third with 13 golds, 15 silvers and 10 bronzes.

Eunice Barber is one of the most famous athletes in France. She was born on November 17, 1974 in Freetown, Sierra Leone ( Western Africa ), the world's poorest country. Eunice says, "I was fortunate to grow up in Sierra Leone, an English-speaking African country where sport is very present". For political and economic reasons, she moved to France when she was 18 years old. In the 1990s, Sierra Leone had one of Africa's bloodiest civil wars. More than 70,000 Africans had been killed and 150,000 had left the country. Under the banner of Sierra Leone, Eunice finished fifth in the heptathlon competition at the 1996 Olympic Games in the United States. For many sportswriters and experts, her Olympic performance was amazing. Three years later, she become a French citizen.

I suppose you think that you learn guitar by playing guitar. Well, do you learn to say the right things by talking all the time? Let's take a look at the art of not playing guitar...

How can you learn to play guitar by not playing? Is it really possible to develop as a guitarist without touching the instrument?

In weight training it is an established fact that muscle growth takes place during rest, for example when you sleep. It doesnt mean that you will become a famous muscle builder by sleeping. Sleeping is just a part of the overall picture called muscle growth.

Dont ever think that you will become a good guitarist by not playing guitar at all!

But I define a good guitarist as a good musician. A good musician can convey his musical emotions to somebody else and this ability takes more than just practicing moving the fingers among all those guitar strings.

What can you do to become a better guitarist and a musician when you don't play? Let me give you a few suggestions:

1. If you play classical guitar, get into the habit of often reading guitar sheet music without your guitar. This practice gives you training in the art of hearing the sheet music in your head and also gives you a better chance to really learn notational symbols in the music and rhythmic subtleties.

2. Take a week off from your guitar playing every now and then and use all your musical energy listening to good music or just being a good citizen. Learn to spot musical and artistic heights in the music. Listen to all types of instrumentalists. With concentration. My best listening position is laying flat on my bed with headphones on forgetting the rest of the world. Maybe you have another approach.

If you feel and enjoy musical and artistic expressions in the music these will probably be implemented in your own guitar playing sooner or later.

3. Be a good musical friend by helping somebody else to play. It will help you become more unselfish and like people more. Well, maybe you already like people sufficiently but to learn to like people is part of our development as musicians as we are supposed to give of ourselves to others when we play.

4. Prepare your body and mind for playing guitar by learning the art of relaxation and stretching your muscles. You can of course find articles on these subjects on the net. Performing in a relaxed manner will help you enjoy your own music more and will help your public to relax and enjoy your music too.

5. Take time to sit down, or stand up if you like, and ponder about what guitar playing means to you. Is there something that you would like to develop in your guitar playing that will give you more joy and happiness. Set a realistic goal and write down what you can do every week to accomplish that goal.

I believe in practicing on my guitar of course but I hope that these pieces of advice concerning not playing guitar will increase your love for your guitar and the art of playing and giving musical joy to others!

Ultimate Santana

2008 reissue housed in a deluxe cardboard slipcase. This single disc anthology brings the legendary guitarist's best recordings of his Arista Records era together with his greatest classics from the Columbia Records years on a single compact disc. Among the 18 tracks are the chart toppers 'Smooth', 'Maria Maria', 'Black Magic Woman', 'The Game Of Love' (with both Michelle Branch and Tina Turner), 'Oye Como Va' and many more. Sony/BMG.
Customer Review: big mistake
YUK! I just recently started downloading mp3s and really screwed up when I bought this thinking it would be the Carlos Santana music I knew in the 60s. What else would "Ulitmate Santana" mean? Instead most of the album is just Santana accompanying some bozo singing stupid disco type songs. My bad. Remember, when it says "featuring so-and-so" it usually means you better like so-and-so and not care too much about who the titled performer is.
Customer Review: Great songs, but...
Carlos Santana has very few bad albums, or even bad songs. (Stay away from his collaboration with John McLaughlin though.) If you're looking for a one-disk compilation and are familiar with his later songs plus his late 60's hits, the songs here will be familiar. But... try Caravanserai, Borboletta, or some of his other unbelievable albums from "in between". If this is all you know of Carlos Santana, you have a lot to discover! What you hear on this disk is just an introduction. I give this review 4 stars rather than 5 not because there are bad songs on this CD (there aren't), but because you, as a Santana listener, deserve more.

Celebrate Chinas magnificent heritage in a Spectacular way as we usher in the Year of the Pig. Each year NTDTV hosts an exhilarating Chinese New Year extravaganza worldwide where the best of Chinese theatre, music and dance come together, bringing to life the myths, legends, and the divine beauty of traditional Chinese culture for Western and Chinese audiences alike. This year the Spectacular will play at Radio City Music Hall from February 14 17.

The Spectacular has something for everyone. A world-class production of performing artists of excellence, it features outstanding vocalists and instrumentalists showcasing grand stage designs, hand-painted backdrops and authentic costuming from ancient Chinese Dynasties. Classical Chinese dance along with traditional dances of various ethnic styles help weave a tale that touches on the themes of compassion and virtue -- and the never-ending battle between good and evil

The show takes you on a magical mystery tour said a friend who saw the Spectacular in San Francisco. When asked what was his favorite part he said: The Dunhuang caves--its just surreal! I can understand why that is. It was said by the ancients that dun meant great, and huang meant to flourish. Dunhuang is the pride of the Chinese culture. The graceful feitian, or heavenly beauties, together with tranquil and elegant Buddha images, reflect the glory of the history of Chinese nationalities in the Dunhuang Cave Dance.

The Mogao Cave in Dunhuang, which is known as Thousand-Buddha Cave, features fresco art narrating stories from Buddhism. Musical fairies, feitian, and heavenly kings are included in the images of the multiple heavenly beings. All the multiple heavenly beings are the guarding converts of the Buddha: the heavenly kings safeguard the Law of Buddhism with weapons in hand, feitian hold flowers and tributes, and the musical fairies dance festively and sing.

Feitian is called goddess with fragrance and beautiful sound in Buddhist art, and was named Gandhanra in Sanskrit, referring to a kind of beautiful fairy who is good at playing music and dancing. Feitian is able to fly airily and freely in the sky with all-over fragrance and fluttering ribbons on her body with flowers and colorful clouds in her hand. This artistic image from Indian Buddhism, once combined with the images of Chinese flying fairies and those who succeeded in cultivation, connotes an extremely rich sense of magic and fantasy.

We can see that NTDTV is working at pains, and we can see new culture from the traditional roots. That is very valuable. We hope the NTDTV can stick it out and can truly turn all these into its tradition, said Ambassador Andrew Xia, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York after seeing the show.

Last years production at New Yorks world-famous Radio City Music Hall ranked the top 7th show internationally on Billboard magazines Box score in February 2006. In 2007 the Spectacular will play in 30 cities across four continents, including 15 major cities in North America.

Be part of the experience and treat yourself to a rich, meaningful and unforgettable cultural eventthe NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular.

Customer Review: Phenomenon / Coldplay DVD
I bought this as a birthday gift for a huge coldplay fan, watched it with him, and was extremely disappointed that I can't return it. This is not a concert DVD. It is a "review." There are several featured songs on the DVD, but not one of them is played in its entirety without being interrupted by a "commentator." The "reviews" are well done, but in hindsight, I should have rented this before buying it.

If you are an aspiring songwriter, musician or indie artist, then sooner or later you will come face to face with music critics. The question is, how will you respond to them?

Last Saturday night I watched a program about The Legends of Rockabilly Music. It was fun to look back in the history of rock and roll and see the pioneering artists who started it all. Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and Jerry Lee Lewis were among the various stars being featured.

What struck me most about these young performers was the shear determination they had to stay the course. Regardless of what the music critics said, they believed in their music and kept right on going. It wasn't always easy for them either. But that's probably the way it is for many of the famous people we admire today. We see the end result of their effort and think- wow, what a lucky break. But we often miss the hard road they had to follow in order to get to that place of recognition and respect.

Take Elvis Presley for instance. Every one of the previously mentioned "legends of rockabilly music" credited Elvis as being the one who most influenced their own style and sound. His spark ignited a wild-fire which eventually spread out and touched the Beatles, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and many others. Most people realize that this flame continues to burn white hot and it's effect is still widely heard in much of today's popular music.

But it wasn't always smooth sailing. At the beginning of his career, Elvis Presley faced some music critics of his own. Time magazine once called him the "Hi luh-huh-huh-huv-huv yew-hew" dreamboat groaner. Back then, some critiques even contained elements of racial prejudice, calling Presley's blues influenced sound "vulgar jungle music."

During those early days Elvis was once given an opportunity to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. Even though the audience responded well to his music, an executive of the show told him later "You ain't going nowhere, son. You may as well stick to driving a truck." History proved that man dead wrong! In 2004, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked Elvis #3 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. So, please let this be an encouragement when you face your own music critics!

Above all, don't let the threat of criticism spoil your dreams. I heard someone say the other day that "the dream of your heart might be bigger than the environment you're in." Other people might not share your vision. They may not understand you. They may not offer any support. But don't let them hold you down. You must be willing to step out of the safe zone and believe in your musical gift. Forget what the critics say. Who are "they" anyway? Just follow your dreams and sing your heart out!

The women usually dance with a hankerchief in their hands which is waved in front of the body enticing the men, but when the men react the women quickly "cover up". Traditionally, the men "attack" with their hips by getting very close to the women, but some variations allow men to "attack" with other parts and from a distance!
