Sixes & Sevens

Customer Review: What a surprise!
I live in Austin where Speer plays most often. My wife works with his bass player (he's part time). When he gave her Speer's CD, she gave it to me. I have to admit I let it sit around for a while because I thought it would turn out to be some lame high school band whose dad had enough money to give them to do a CD. Man, was I wrong. This CD is great! If you like the bands the other reviewer mentioned you *will* like this. Since piano dominates most of the songs, I have to say they also remind me of Ben Folds Five. I especially like "Soak The Radio." Enjoy!
Customer Review: This is what I have been waiting for!!!!
This CD rocks. The vocalist James Speer has amazing range and melodies. He is a cross between Jeff Buckley and Peter Gabriel. The music itself is captivating! There are great dynamics from beggining to end. It's almost like a soundtrack. The hits are all over this CD, but the ones that really stand out are 'Blue Bowl', 'View', and 'Already gone'. The rest of the tracks are just as powerful and I keep finding a new favorite every time I listen to the CD. I don't know where this guy came from but I hope to see more material. I went by his website, WWW.SPEERMUSIC.COM, and found that he is only playing in Austin, Tx. I hope that he will go on tour soon. I highly recommend this album if you like the folling artists: COLDPLAY, DAVE MATTHEWS, COUNTING CROWS, PETER GABRIEL, DAVID GRAY, JEFF BUCKLEY, STING

There are so many different perks to living in New York City : the culture, the restaurants, the education and of course, the music. Music is everywhere, and not just one type, but all genres. No matter what type of music you like, you can find it in the city and in a number of different settings.

If you are looking to spend a night on the town and hear some great music, that is not a problem in New York. There are plenty of bars, clubs, and lounges throughout the city that feature live musicians. Try going downtown to the Knitting Factory where you'll find indie-rock bands, jazz groups, and plenty of local bands on the rise. For a different type of music, check out the BB King Blues Club in Times Square. Of course, those are just two examples. There are music bars all over the Big Apple.

There are always big name concerts in NYC, and there are plenty of venues to host them. Concerts are always held in venues such as Madison Square Garden, Lincoln Center, and Radio City Music Hall. Each year these halls, as well as many others, host a number of different concerts. Check out their schedules to see if anything interests you.

Less-formal concerts can also be found all over. On a nice day, take a walk through Central Park or Washington Square Park, and you are bound to find someone singing or playing an instrument. You can even find music when you are riding the subway. Musicians are always set up in the subway stations. Sometimes these little concerts are the best ones.

As much as New York is a great place to enjoy music, it is also a great place to learn music. There are a number of music schools in NYC, including some of the most prestigious in the world. With all the great schools and the endless opportunities, music students should want to be nowhere else.

For a less formal music education, spend a day at one of the Big Apple's many museums that feature musical displays. There is the Museum of Television and Radio and the Dia Center for the Arts to name a few.

A completely different way to celebrate music in NYC is to visit the John Lennon Memorial in Central Park. This memorial, known as Strawberry Fields, is 2.5 acres landscaped in memory of John Lennon. The memorial is a mosaic with the word, "Imagine" in the middle and a peace sign made of flowers. It is located on Central Park West at West 72nd Street directly across from where John Lennon lived and was murdered.

No matter what type of music you chose to listen to, you can find it in New York City. No matter how you chose to enjoy your music, you can find it in New York City. Manhattan is full of music, and that is just one of the many benefits to being here.

So youve invested in a state-of-the-art guitar what next? Chances are youll need an amplifier. Guitar amplifiers are an essential part of your music gear; in fact, most musicians agree that a good guitar is no use without a good amp.

When shopping for an amp, you usually have four options: tube, solid state, digital, and hybrid. While the last two are certainly more high-tech, newer isnt always better when it comes to amps. Each type has its own advantages, and it all comes down to your budget and personal preference.

Tube guitar amplifier

The first amps to become available were tube amps. Many experts find them their warm, full tone more natural, and digital amps have tried and failed to duplicate it. Another reason theyre still around is power-saving: they sound much louder than solid-state and digital amps at the same wattage. The only drawback is that the glass tubes break easily, so youll have to be careful moving them around.

Solid state guitar amplifiers

In solid-state amps, the tubes are replaced by transistors. While this makes them sturdier, it tends to make them sound harsh or distorted at high frequency. However, these amps will stand up to heavy use better than tube amps.

Digital guitar amplifier

Digital amps are programmed to imitate a wide range of amp sounds, including distortions, riffs, and the classic tube amp sound. Cheaper digital amps sound synthetic, but with high-end ones you can hardly tell the difference. Get a digital amp if you like being creative and trying out different styles.

Hybrid guitar amplifiers

These amps combine tube and solid-state technology into a single machine. The sound quality isnt as great as the original tube amps, but they will do if you want tube-quality sound without spending on a high-end digital amp.

More guitar amplifier information is available in Picky Guide which contains thousands of quality product information for picky consumers.

Music Maestro 6370 POP Hits of Today Vol. 24 Karaoke CDG

This listing is for a brand new Music Maestro #6370 POP CD&G CD from the DISCONTINUED MUSIC MAESTRO 6000 collection. This great quality CD comes sealed in a heavy plastic jewel case, plays the music without the lead vocals and displays the lyrics on a Karaoke CD&G player. These songs are not preformed by the original artists but are very good re-creations. I've been told that Music Maestro has gone out of business so this CD will most likely become rather hard to find in the near future.

The songs included are as follows:

Pop Hits Of Today - Vol.24 - MM - 6370

1. Complicated - Avril Lavigne

2. A Little Less Conversation - Elvis Vs. JXL

3. Boys - Britney Spears

4. The Rising - Bruce Springsteen

5. Hot In Here - Nelly

6. In My Place - Coldplay

7. Barenaked - Jennifer Love Hewitt

8. Goodbye To You - Michelle Branch

9. Flake - Jack Johnson

10. Love At First Sight - Kylie Minogue

11. Out Of My Heart - BBMak

12. Silver Lining - Bonnie Raitt

13. On A High - Duncan Shiek

14. Just Like A Pill - Pink

15. Big Machine - Goo Goo Dolls

Live 2003

Many figure skating moves and techniques are based on ballet. Skaters who have a background in ballet should be able to transfer the positions and principles from ballet to skating. It is precisely this closeness to dance, and especially to ballet, that sets ice skating apart from any other sport. Although ballet and skating are similar, you have to think of them as two different worlds. There are many moves in skating that are similar to ballet, but you will have to break some ballet rules to get it right in skating.

The skater needs a strong core body to connect the upper and lower body for controlled powerful movements. He must be able to keep his shoulders over his hips throughout jumps, spins, footwork and edges. He must also be able to check his shoulders against his hips. Thus it is to the skater's benefit to become aware of the feeling of twisting in the middle of the torso, and also the feeling of staying square.

Figure skating and ballet require balance, strength in the legs, and ankle strength. They both use the same muscles, so ballet really helps figure skaters. Flexibility, balance, body alignment/posture, extension, and strength are just another reason to incorporate ballet to your figure skating. Many of the poses in skating are found in ballet, for instance arabesque, leaps, Rond de Jambe, Pli, etc. Ballet teaches the skater how to move the pelvis without losing balance or disconnecting the center in footwork sequences, including pirouette turns, jumps and leaps across the floor.

The entire foundation of ballet is poise and posture gained through core strength, making it the best way to learn how to present oneself and become graceful and elegant on the ice. Ballet helps with beauty and grace. Ballet dancers have a natural elegance in the way they carry themselves. The way their legs, back, arms, hands, feet, shoulders, and neck are aligned, always seems to have that flair grace. They have great posture.

Figure skating is ballet on ice. It can be one of the off ice training you implement to your skating for form and balance. Ballet uses body, mind and expression and while on the ice you have to express yourself as well. With ballet, you have a broader sense of how to perform, and to interpret and express your music as you tell your story or convey your emotion through the connecting steps of the program. This is what make the difference between a program that is all jumps with a lot of crossovers or stroking between the jumps, and a program that is interesting, artistic and pleasant to watch. Just as a dancer sweeps you away with her grace and flow and hides her/his sweat with a flourish, a skater will prepare you for a delicate show of artistry, acrobatic leaps and gentle arabesques.

The following is a brief summary of common terms and positions with which skaters should be familiar.

Rond de Jambe - A rotary movement of the leg.
It can be done in a number of ways, such as on the
floor with knee straight, or in air with a circular
rotation of the knee from bent to straight.

Pli - A bending of the knees with hips, legs, and
feet turned outward.

Arabesque - A position in which the dancer
stands on one leg with the other leg extended in a
straight line to the rear. The position of the arms
and the height of the raised leg may vary.
There are certain set positions in ballet for the
arms and particularly for the feet which give the
ballet dancer a particularly pleasing aspect as well
as providing a starting point for particular moves
and interchanges.
Skaters who have a background in ballet
should be able to transfer the positions and
principles from ballet to skating.

Foot Positions
There are five basic ballet foot positions that
are common to all teaching methods.
The feet point either in opposing directions either
in a straight line, or offset with one foot in front of
the other.

Viva La Vida

Extremely limited special edition of their 2008 album packaged in a gatefold wallet sleeve. Viva La Vida is the Britpop act's fourth studio release. The album comprises 10 brand new tracks, recorded in London, Barcelona and New York with producers Brian Eno and Markus Dravs. Viva La Vida follows the hugely successful album X & Y, which has sold 10 million copies since its release in 2005. EMI. 2008.
Customer Review: Why did they paint on the Delacroix?
As with most all uber-hyped pop albums, this one doesn't go deep and raw enough to be fantastic (if it did, it would make too many enemies). However as chart toppers go, this one is straight from the heart, and will remain on my playlist for a long time. Chris Martin singing 'you didn't get to heaven, but you made it close/you didn't get to heaven, but you aaa.... (almost?)' is hard to forget. all songs have a crunchy revolutionary anthem feel that fits Martin like an old leather coat. One that i'll be wearing for a while.
Customer Review: If it wasn't so overhyped, I might be less critical...
Coldplay is good. They're better than most. Most rap, most country, most rock and DEFINITELY most pop. But Viva la Vida is extremely overexposed, and Coldplay have long been riding a tidal wave of mediocrity over the heads of the consumers. Regarding their most recent release, the lyrics are interesting, the melodies pretty, the songs epic in scope, but rather pedestrian when all the synthesizers are stripped away. Chris Martin has a nice voice, but not an inspiring one. But, then again, the same might be said about U2, and look what they've accomplished. At least Coldplay aren't a ripoff (well, yes, they do bear more than a passing nod to U2, but I mean ripoff in the "you've been robbed" kind of way)...at worst you might feel like you spent too much on the CD - you won't be wondering why you bought it in the first place. I probably wouldn't be so critical had I not been expecting considerably more from their new CD. The song "Viva la Vida" was stuck in my head by about the fifth time I saw the stupid iTunes commercial. It's arranged in a way to make it a depaparture from typical pop/rock drivel, and I like its bass pulse: solid without being bombastic. Nice layering of sounds, but it sounds canned overall. There are a couple of tunes that sound like they borrowed a page from Sgt. Pepper (but who HASN'T borrowed a page from Sgt. Pepper?), and a few that suggest to me a hasty trip from concept to final mix. HOWEVER, if you think I'm being overly critical, you should hear my rants about 99.9999999% of the rest of the music that I have been subjected to and tortured with over the years. Overall, I'm pleased by Coldplay's latest. I give it 7 points for every single track being worthy of repeated listens, 1 point for the single "Viva la Vida" having the incredible capacity to get stuck in your head, minus 2 points for the CD as a whole not living up to the hype, but I'm giving those 2 points back as extra credit for still being better than most of what else the recording industry attempts to shove down our throats. 80%. That's a solid B. Good effort.

Beware of Virus Threats

iTunes and Amazon are the preferred source for downloading television episodes, and many TV buffs enjoy doing this. There are other places like torrent networks that offer download services, but not without virus threats, and sometimes you do not get what you want in terms of quality. The download may also be incomplete.

Go for Quality

If you ask my opinion, then I don't approve any of these methods to download. The actual cost of downloading television shows may be more, and you may want to check other services which offer more so you end up paying less. It all depends on the television buff who really loves to watch the TV episodes, who may end up spending huge amounts of money on these shows.

Almost Free Downloads

There are many services available that allow you to download as many movies, television shows, and music videos as you want by paying a membership fee every year. This way you need not pay for every episode, and you can download all the episodes for a one time reasonable fee. Isn't this more economical?

Save Your Money

Some sites even offer life subscriptions. Pay a one time fee and download for a lifetime! All the TV shows, music videos, and even movies you wanted to own could be yours. Imagine the amount of money you would be saving!

Choose What Works Best For You

In my opinion there are several websites that offer these services and I have even checked their support and services. I can say that the options are plenty and all you need to do is drop in and choose what works best for you.

Jo Kino Liu is a total fanatic for downloading TV series and watching them at home but he doesn't appreciate to pay much for that. Drop by his site and see how he can legally download movies with no spyware or viruses almost for free, anytime he wants:

The wedding couple leading the first dance can be one of the most romantic highlights of the big day. More and more couples are choosing to have professional dance lessons so that they look their very best when the time comes. This article provides tips on getting it right.

Choosing the music for your 'First Dance' may turn out to be one of the most difficult things you have to decide. Not only do you have to agree on the music that you both like, there are many other things that you have to take into consideration as well. You would be better served to choose five or six different songs to start with and take them along to your dance teacher on CD so that you can discuss the merits of each song individually.

A few things to think about when deciding:

Remember the Wedding Day is a long day for you, your family and the guests, and everyone will want it to go smoothly.
The less you have to think about on the day the better it will be, so plan well in advance. Don't leave it to the last thing on your list!

Generally the First Dance is no more than 3 minutes long. You will be the centre of attention but nobody will want to watch and dance that goes on for 5 or 6 minutes, especially the children! Your guests by this time are ready to get the party going! So keep it short and sweet.

Be prepared that your absolute favorite song may turn out to be a non-starter because it is too fast or slow, long or short. Put a shortlist together on a CD and take it to your chosen dance teacher. A good teacher will help you choose objectively and ask questions about what you are wearing (dress and shoes), how big your dance floor is, the position of tables, are you having a band play your music or using CD etc).

Listen carefully to the song lyrics. Once you take this into consideration you may find that your original song list will shrink straight away! However, even though you may discount most of the songs on he original list do not discard them until you have confirmed what you are going to use.

Think about the type of dance you want to do. If you are into "rock and roll" or "Ballroom and Latin" and your outfit allows it then go for it! Just remember leave yourselves plenty of time to practice. Before you know it the family will be in town waiting to see you off and ready for a party!

Live Music or CD? - Most bands will be able to learn your song for you, but bear in mind that using pre-recorded music allows you to edit the song to match your routine. You will also have been practicing to the pre-recorded music and will need to ensure that the band play the song in the same tempo. You also run the risk of the band being unfamiliar with the song, and they may have limited time to rehearse.

The best solution is to get your first dance song on CD and have either the DJ or band play the song through their equipment. This is a very popular choice as it's the least hassle and allows the band to create an impact when they kick off immediately after you have finished.

So there it is. Have fun with it, after all it is your day, but make sure you plan well in advance - there is more to it than you think! Don't leave it till the last minute it will just be disastrous!

" Coldplay " : It's Easy To Play

Many movies have been made about Nashville. Enough books about Music City have been written to fill a bookcase. And, of course, scores of songs are dedicated to the city of music. But, while music is the lifeblood of Nashville, visitors will also find here a city of culture and history, of haute cuisine, of pro sports, outstanding academics, natural beauty and pure Southern charm.

Nashville is a place where the past and the future peacefully coexist and build, one on the other, to create a destination that appeals to the interests of every visitor. This city is alive. You can feel its pulse when you walk down its sidewalks. And, fortunately, you can also hear it almost anywhere you go.

How Nashville became Music City:

From its very beginnings, Nashville grew from a foundation built on music. Music has always been the common thread connecting the life and soul of the city and its people. And visitors have always ventured here to experience the music that weaves such a fundamental pattern in its cultural, business and social fabric.

Nashville's earliest settlers celebrated in the late 1700s with fiddle tunes and buck dancing after safely disembarking on the shores of the Cumberland River, a spot now commemorated on First Avenue North with a replica of the original Fort Nashborough. Nashville's first "celebrity," the noted frontiersman and Congressman Davy Crockett was known far and wide for his colorful stories and fiddle playing.

As the 1800s unfolded, Nashville grew to become a national center for music publishing. The first around-the-world tour by a musical act was by the Fisk Jubilee Singers from Nashville's Fisk University. Their efforts helped fund the school's mission of educating freed slaves after the Civil War - and also put Nashville on the map as a global music center.

In 1897, a group of Confederate veterans chose Nashville as the site of a massive reunion. The event was held at the former tabernacle that would later become known as the Ryman Auditorium. So many former Confederate soldiers poured into town that a new balcony was built inside the tabernacle to accommodate their great numbers. It was dubbed "The Confederate Gallery," a designation still visible today as the Ryman continues to host an array of musical events.

Before even the Ryman became known as the downtown home of the Grand Ole Opry, it already enjoyed a national reputation. Enrico Caruso, John Phillip Sousa and the Vienna Orchestra gave roof-raising performances there that earned the Ryman the nickname "Carnegie Hall of the South." The Ryman's unrivaled acoustic qualities continue today - it has received Pollstar magazine's prestigious "Theater of the Year" award for two years in a row as the best auditorium in the nation to experience live music.

In 1925, the establishment of radio station WSM and its launch of the broadcast that would be called the Grand Ole Opry further secured Nashville's reputation as a musical center and sparked its durable nickname of Music City. The Opry, still staged live every week, is America's longest-running radio show, in continuous production for 80 years. It ignited the careers of hundreds of country stars and lit the fuse for Nashville to explode into a geographic center for touring and recording. The modern-day empire of Music Row, a collection of recording studios, record labels, entertainment offices and other music-associated businesses, populates the area around 16th and 17th Avenues South.

In recent years, cable television broadcast Music City's stars and music to the world. The Nashville Network, CMT and GAC took country music to a new level of acclaim and recognition. The gospel music series hosted by Nashville's Bobby Jones on Black Entertainment Television is now cable's longest-running program.

Nashville has also become a hub for pop, rock, bluegrass, jazz, classical, contemporary Christian, blues and soul music. Artists like Matchbox Twenty, India.Arie, Bon Jovi and Jewel, among many others, have come to Music City to write and record, and names like Michael McDonald and Donna Summer have chosen to call Nashville home.

The newly constructed Schermerhorn Symphony Center, home to the renowned, Grammy -winning Nashville Symphony, anchors the downtown end of the recently designated Music Mile, a symbolic stretch of roadway connecting the $120 million Symphony Center with the music district of Music Row, the vibrant new entertainment venues on Demonbruen Street, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Music City Walk of Fame and Museum and the Nashville Arena. The Music Mile perfectly illustrates how the music of Music City is indeed a common thread throughout the business, cultural and entertainment sectors of Nashville.

Nashville's connection to music is unequaled, and its reputation as Music City has been consistently proven for over 200 years. Welcome to the most musical city in the world. Music City-the only Music City!
