Esperanza

"Esperanza," bassist/vocalist/composer Esperanza Spalding's debut on Heads Up International, is set for worldwide release on May 20, 2008. Armed with uncanny instrumental chops, a siren voice that spans three languages, and composing and arranging skills that weave together the best elements of the old-school with the progressive, this 23-year-old has crafted a debut album that takes a completely fresh and refreshing approach to jazz by borrowing from the rich traditions of soul, pop, world music and so much more.

Esperanza is joined in the studio by a crew of A-list session players, including flamenco guitar virtuoso Niño Josele, percussionist Jamey Haddad, drummer Horacio "El Negro" Hernández, saxophonist Donald Harrison and several other seasoned talents - all of whom collectively serve as further evidence of the kind of creative energy and magnetism that she radiates.
Customer Review: Can't get it out of my head
I'm no musician and cetainly no jazz expert. I just love beautiful, interesting, melodious music. This album took my breath away. Every time that I listen to it, I hear something new that catches my ear. The album seems to be packed with talent, but that combination of voice and bass is something else altogether.
Customer Review: Pure Talent
Ms Spalding is an incredible talent. She has been blessed with both an amazing musical ability and is already an accomplished college instructor. Take advantage of the opportunity to see her perform if she happens into your area.

The experts at California DJs know all the secret elements - and the not-so-secret ones too all to help you plan the ultimate wedding reception that is perfectly you! Use these 10 essential elements to create the perfect day for you and your guests.

1. Generously Invite

Writing the guest list what a challenge! How do you agree on whom to invite and still stay within your budget? Heres the bottom line. You are preparing for the most magical day of your life and in the end only one thing will matter the public declaration of your love and commitment and each and every person there to witness it.

We encourage you to invite every person you love. Your guests are the focal point of this very special day. Cut back on the cost of the dinner, limit the hours of the open bar, but dont cross off names. As you fondly remember your wedding day, you will not remember the per-person cost. You will remember glowing faces of the people celebrating your union the buzz at the reception the clink of toasting glasses throughout the room congratulating your marriage! The extra veggie platter, shrimp apps, and extravagant centerpiece wont be the center of attention the people will be.

2. Designate Your Celebratory Space

Before you plan your reception know exactly where you want people to mix and mingle. Fantastic receptions brim with family and friends who feel comfortable, meet, talk, dance, and become acquainted with one another. Dont let guests leave early, slip away to check out the impressive surroundings of your location, or run outside for a smoke and then never come back to join the party. Define the space with ribbons or closed doors. Dont be afraid to close off certain areas or rooms. The liveliest receptions have a common area where guests are mingling and activities are taking place. A designated space ensures guests catch and capture each wonderful moment as it unfolds.

3. Special Activities Just For The Joy Of It

Remember, 80% of your guests wont know each other. The greatest wedding memories are the new friendships and extended family bonds created at your wedding. Use interactive games, specialty dances, bold announcements, or fun activities during the reception to break the ice and help people get to know one other. Suddenly youll see people laughing and enjoying themselves instead of feeling shy or retreating on the sidelines.

4. Let Go, Have Fun & Toss Your Worries Aside

The bride sets the stage and the tone for reception party. This is the time and place for all brides to let go, have fun, and toss any last minute worries aside. Let the months of planning and masterful professionals youve selected take over and do what they do best. You only have one job - to be the most radiant and loveliest guest of honor. Show up and celebrate! If you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed, your guests will sense it and feel uncomfortable too. You have the power and pleasure to give your guests permission to let loose and have a great time!

5. Dance Your Little Heart Out

One saucy shoe must be the first to step out on the dance floor. Guests will be looking to you for permission and timing to dance. As soon as you get up and dance, theyll let loose and do a little rumba too! People are typically shy and most guests are very careful not to offend or overstep their boundaries. Plan to play music you love so you are comfortable. Your physical cues can create a safe space for them to dance, toe-tap, celebrate, toast, and party. Watch friends and family get up and dance, thoroughly enjoy themselves, then talk about what a fabulous reception it was in the morning.

6. Embellish, Adorn, and Decorate

The dcor sets the mood at the reception. Simple dcor is not only best, it is marvelously elegant. Elegant doesnt have to mean expensive. Think sentimental instead of expensive and youll amaze yourself with the brilliant ideas that come to mind. Since flowers are typically 15% of the overall wedding budget, you can save money by intermingling silk flowers. Want a discount, ask for one! Many places give quantity and wedding discounts. Use your imagination and let your creativity take over.

7. Invite Groups of People That Know Each Other

No doubt your guests will be coming from many different walks of life - but the more people you bring together with common bonds - the more alive the reception will be. People feel safest when they are surrounded by people and situations that are familiar to them. Watch the twinkle in the eyes of your family members sparkle as they greet familiar faces from way back when. Notice work friends create a tribe of sorts and fill up the dance floor. Birds of a feather flock together. Invite groups of people that know each other and see a warm, wonderful, and happy vibe wash over the reception.

8. Serve Thirst Quenching Libations

Every reception should have beer, wine, or alcoholic beverages available. Hesitant??? Think again. Cocktails loosen people up and lessen inhibitions. Even people who do not drink, often make exceptions at weddings. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event and rules can and will be broken. Keep the cost down. Serve beer on tap, inexpensive bottles of wine (Charles Shaw for $1.99/bottle), or have a cash only bar with free soft drinks and water. All the fun at a fraction of the cost.

9. Early Notice and Save The Date Announcements

Your invitees wont want to miss your big day, but with very busy schedules advance notice is not a luxury its required. Invite people well in advance. 30% of guests that dont show decline because they didnt get enough advance notice. Send an electronic save the date message via email or try a unique and money saving save the date photo postcard for as little as $.65 a card including postage. Avoid disappointing Will Not Attends that arrive late in the mail or worse yet embarrassing Yes response cards from people who dont show up. As rude as this is, people hate to say no. Giving people advance notice a minimum of 3 weeks - will minimize disappointment and embarrassment and bring all your favorite people together.

10. Use The One Hour Gathering Rule

Party "kick-off" starts one hour after the official start time. Many people will show up late so use the one hour gathering rule to account for lateness and all the other influences out of your control traffic, distance, directions, babysitters, weather, and other unknowns. Begin with an intimate one-hour cocktail or champagne reception to entertain before the party officially starts. Play inviting music and host an open bar if you choose. Because most guests will arrive late, serve food or appetizers toward the end of the gathering hour. This will give the effect of a perfectly planned and welcoming entrance.

Bonus Tip: Plan for a Grand Entrance Showcasing You!

We call it the dazzling ta-da entrance! This is where it all comes together. You arrive relaxed and ready to have fun. Your mood is joyful and sets the tone for an utterly enjoyable reception. Your guests havent waited longer than one hour. Youve planned ahead with the photographer and the photos are archived in the camera forever. Now before your big entrance, remember all the love you feel inside and visualize the joy inside of you sweeping guests off their feet.

Hear the melody of your favorite music fill the room and feel the anticipation of the guests expecting your arrival. Let every bit of warmth, happiness, and radiance come through as you flitter into the room. Your grand entrance will set the tone and prepare your guests for one of the most talked about wedding receptions of the year. Create ambiance and fun by lining the walkway with fresh petals, a bubble machine, or doing something personal, silly, or heartwarming that is uniquely you.

Then, let the DJ do what he does best. Youve hired the best and planned well in advance. Let your vision come together as the reality of this marvelous day unfolds. Hear each and every guest say,

It was the best time since we can remember! Andrea Wolf

30 Exitos Insuperables

Customer Review: Excellent album
I think this is a great starter album for those who may not have heard Paloma San Basilio. She has a wonderful voice, and can sing anything from dance to sultry formats.

Although not applicable always, an actor's career generally begins with modeling assignments. Therefore, the genesis of the word combination acting modeling is appropriate in the sense that both careers are interrelated to some extent at least. Models can be found featured on magazine covers, newspapers, billboards, posters, ads, and even on the packets that your grocery store provides. These models earn anything between $25 and $250 per hour.

These models can have very sharp features making them look drop dead gorgeous or they may even look like the next door friendly guy. The main motive of models is to present a face that people find attractive so as to sell a particular product. But for most of these models, modeling is not the end but is only a step-up to an acting career.

But the acting modeling world is highly competitive. In addition to a great face, you need a good agent to get you into the acting modeling world.

So here are some steps that will help you in the search for and the selection of a good agent and thus a successful entry into the acting modeling career.

The first dilemma that you face is to know where to find an agent. For this, you can search various local theaters and ask the actors there if they know of any agent or is there any agent available who represents them. Secondly, you can visit some photo studios and ask the photographers there if they know any good agent. Photographers are in constant touch with the modeling world, so they can find for you the right person. Another option also worth trying is a signatory agent. They are licensed agents, who are very professional in their approach.

After the search for agents is over, the next step is the selection of the one agent that you need. For this, you should do some background research on the various agents. If possible, ask their previous employers about their performance. After this, you should take a good look at their offices. Look carefully as to whether they have all the requisite things that an agent generally needs to have.

Also, one of the most important aspects to remember in the selection of an agent is the comfort level and the communication between you and the agent. These aspects prove crucial in deciding the pattern of growth of your career.

Agents can well prove to be a decisive factor in the success or failure of your getting into an acting modeling career. Acting modeling is a career that has become very competitive so you cannot afford to be casual in the search for and the selection of an agent.

Speed of Sound

UK digi-pack pressing of their first single from their 2005 album, 'X & Y'. The album version of the title track is scheduled to be b/w two non-album tracks, 'Things I Don't Understand' and 'Proof'. EMI. 2005.
Customer Review: this is worth it
'Speed of Sound' isn't that stupendous a song. 'Clocks' is way better and I don't think another song could top that from Coldplay. 'Speed of Sound' is pretty much based on the concept of 'Clocks' - something fast, with lots of synths, and a repititive drum loop. This time they used more guitars and tried to make it more melodic, which definitely worked for the masses, but it didn't for me. It's not a terribly bad song, but it just was trying too hard, and it unfortunately didn't work. But listen to 'Things I Don't Understand'. This track is gorgeous. I mean, THIS TRACK IS GORGEOUS!! I had no idea Coldplay would come up with a song like this. It's easily one of my favorite tracks by Coldplay and I don't get why it's not on X&Y. X&Y has too many songs on it that are just mediocre. 'Things I Don't Understand' is honest, crafty and most of all, groundbreaking. For another b-side that is just as good, listen to 'World Turned Upside Down', which you can find on the single for 'Fix You'. Yes, Coldplay is an exceptional B-side band. Oh, I forgot 'Proof'. This song is okay. The guitars here are nice, and the whole idea of the song being sparse instrumentally is a great asset. Chris' singing on this is pretty bad though. I was surprised that he wasn't really putting effort to control his voice from breaking in the song. I hope Coldplay releases a B-side album one day. But this is great for now.
Customer Review: It may not play
I bought the CD, but unfortunately it will not play on my house player - due to the copy protection format being used. BE AWARE - you may not be able to play this cd. IF you play it on your PC, disable autorun first or it will attempt to install copy protection software on your pc.

I was watching the "Mummy" again for the upteenth time and realized why I love this movie so much is because it reminds me of my days in the early 90's when I was living in Cairo. The soul of Egypt takes hold of you and she never lets you go. She stays inside of you and lingers always reminding you that to exist without her is not existing at all. So she possessed me and lives inside me.

I have never been more at home in any place than Egypt. The market place will always be my favorite place to visit. The smells, sounds and whispers of every day life and life lived for thousands of years walks with you everywhere you go. It's like the past, present and future have no idea that they must exist separate. They come together and create timelessness. I think that is why I felt so alive because I existed for the day and lived life to its fullest as each moment passed.

To say traveling to Egypt is a spiritual experience is an understatement. She is the cornerstones of time and her soul encompasses the spiritual, mystical and magical. All three exist together and create the divine elixir of life.

You can feel Isis, Bastet, Hathor, Sekhmet and Maat surround you and embrace you whispering untold secrets. I found this perplexing especially since the male energy is so dominant. Considering Egypt has had some of the most powerful women rulers in history I have come to understand that the backward view of women is in contradiction to her history.

Perhaps this is why dance has survived and has become such an integral part of her history. Through dance can the Goddess survive and reach people. She can entice, heal, and cast her spell upon the masses through dance. The possession that Egypt takes hold on the body is no simple matter. I taste, smell, hear and see the old ways every time I dance.

As the "Mummy" movie ended I realized that Egypt gave me treasures beyond what I realized; she showed me apart of herself and welcomed me home. And since home is where the heart is she knew that she would be reborn in each dancer. Smart Lady!

Satellite Radio is the future of broadcasting

Satellite Radio, in short, can be described as commercial-free music, news, sports and talk shows. Many of the biggest players and events are now available from Sirius radio and XM radio like Howard Stern, Fred Schneider (the B52s), NFL, English Soccer, NBA, NASCAR, NHL, Major League Baseball, INDY, and the PGA.

Satellite radio began in 1992, when the S spectrum was allocated by the FCC to four companies. The two main ones, Sirius and XM paid a pretty penny (in fact almost $80 million dollars worth) to buy a license. Satellite-based radio began on May 15th, 2001 when XM Radio completed their satellite system. Sirius followed shortly when they launched in July, 2001. Since then, expanded products and competition has changed the radio landscape.

While automobile manufacturers started installing satellite radio in 2001 and 2002, most new vehicles come equipped with one now. XM has two satellites (called Rock and Roll) in parallel orbits to cover the mainland US market, while Sirius has three. Both have recently been awarded licenses for the Canadian market.

So what are the differences between the two providers?

XM has a flat $9.99 a month fee with no contracts to sign. They have the latest portable equipment. XM offers some of the best varieties of programming available today. DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE - BLOWFISH - TODDLERS T-SHIRT

Gigging is probably one of the most enjoyable activities a musician can experience. There is always something special about performing in front of a live audience. The sound of a crowds appreciation when you have just ripped up the stage with a great performance of your best tunes. There is just nothing like it. But what happens when things dont go exactly as planed? And what happens when things fail miserably? If you have ever gigged I am sure you are familiar with Murphy law: If things can go wrong, they probably will. I have had experiences like: amps blowing up, guitar strings breaking, stolen fuses in my amp, bad cords, out of tune guitars, ect... These things happen to all bands and what makes the difference between a professional and an amateur is how you deal with these problems. You need to do some preplanning and put together a a Musicians First Aid Kit. When a problem does occur, you will be prepared to quickly fix the problem and get on with your show.

Guitar/Bass Strings

Get at least one extra set for each guitar or bass you have at the gig. If you pop a string you will be prepared to replace it. Remember this golden rule for guitars and basses: Never step on stage without a properly tuned backup guitar or bass. If you have any problems with your main ax all you have to do is pick up your backup and fix the problem on your next break.

Cords

Get a complete second set of cords. This includes patch cords and mike cables.

Batteries

Go through all of your gear and make a note of all of the batteries you use. Get backups for everything and make sure the backups dont sit and go dead before you replace them. Consider some type of preventative maintenance schedule so you can keep track how long batteries are in use and when they need replacement. Dont forget about the guitar tuner!

Fuses

Again go through all of your gear and make a note of all the proper sizes of your fuses. Get some type of small segregated box and label the top with the current ratings for the fuses (1A, 5A ect...). Never put a fuse that has a higher current rating in your amp or gear. There is a reason the manufacture put that size fuse in your system. Never, Never wrap a fuse with tin foil to bypass it! If your fuses keeps blowing, you have a short in this gear and by putting a larger fuse or bypassing it all together you may completely blow it up which will will cost you plenty to repair. Also I should mention that by bypassing your fuse you run the risk of electrocuting yourself! Never under any circumstanceses bypass your fuses!

Drummers

Get a spare snare drum. If your snares let go just replace the whole drum with the spare and repair your main snare at break. Bring many extra sticks. I played with a drummer once that didnt bring enough sticks to a gig one night. He had to play the last half of our set with a screwdriver! Needless to say he had to replace all of his drum heads after this gig! Bring some spare hardware and also get another kick drum pedal. Some spare drum heads are always a good idea and make sure to bring a set of tools.

Keyboard Players

What would happen if your main synth went out? Maybe you could program your second synth with similar sounds. I know it wont be perfect but it will get you through the gig.

Singers

Do you have a spare mic? If not you should pick one up. I recommend a Sure 58. They are not very expensive and are reliable for a great backup if not a main mic.

Horn Players

Since I dont play horns I cant comment too much however I can recommend that you think about what could go wrong with your instrument. What could you do if it failed during a gig? Again a backup might be a good idea.

Amps

If you use an amp in your performance and it fails what could you do? A small spare is a good idea. Guitar players can use a guitar processor as a backup amp and it can be plugged directly into the PA. Again I know this wont sound perfect but it will get you through the gig. Bass players have it easy if their amps go out. Plug directly into the PA. If you play bass you may want to consider buying a direct box specifically for that purpose. Same goes for keyboard players, plug directly into the PA with a DI box

All Bands

Always have plenty of duct tape! This stuff can get you out of some major jams!

I have not covered everything that can go wrong with your gear at a show but hopefully this will spark some ideas of the things that you can do if your gear fails. Put together your Musicians First Aid Kit in some sort of tool box or fishing tackle box. If you are prepared when things go wrong at your gigs (and believe me they will) it is no big deal. If you are not prepared you will look like an amateur and remember you never know who is out in the audience watching. Good luck and happy gigging!

Don't Panic

Sure, "art for art's sake" is cool... but what if you're pursuing a career as a
songwriter? This article is full of suggestions for how you can tailor your songs to
suit the requirements of music business professionals.

Many of us bemoan the state of commercial music today, but what are you doing to
improve things in your own microcosmic corner of the universe? Are you working to
create the next wave of great material songs that have a lifespan of more than a
few weeks or months? How can you use your talents to actually make a powerful
contribution... and make a living while you're at it?

The first step is to take a good look inside and explore what you as a unique
individual have to say, lyrically and musically. What do you think about, believe in,
stand for? What makes you tick? These precious truths that bubble up from the soul
provide the driving force behind great songwriting. These sparks of inspiration,
these "aha! moments," are what listeners crave when they play a song. They're also
what People Behind Desks are desparate to find. Do you have the courage to lay
bare your personal truth in public? I firmly believe that's what it takes to achieve
success with your songs.

The cynical among us will say, "no, you just need the right equipment, a catchy
hook and a whole lot of money behind you." Sure, those things help, but if you're
trying to break into the business, your song has to simultaneously grab people by
the guts, tickle their ears, and slam them over the head like a 2-by-4. Strive to write
songs that take risks, tap into the universal via the personal, and motivate people to
laugh, cry, feel, dance or take action. Make an effort to innovate, not imitate what's
already out there. In other words, write your passion. Songs miraculously translate
to listeners the exact emotion you felt while you were writing them. Do your best to
work that magic!

Another quality that professionals look for in a song is strong dynamic flow. Skillful
use of the many conventions of songwriting can manipulate listeners in the most
enjoyable way. Don't be afraid to push those emotional buttons! Here are some
ways to go about it:

Suck listeners in with lyrical, melodic and chordal tension.

Create a question in their minds: how will this turn out in the end?

Throw their bodies off balance with chords or melodies that are unexpected or
quirky.

Take a strong point of view that's boldly provocative, unique or intensely
felt.

Paint a vivid picture in the mind's eye.

Set a palpable mood.

Construct an entire sonic and/or lyrical environment.

Once you have piqued people's interest, crank up their involvement using all the
techniques in your lyrical toolbox, i.e. rhyme, meter, imagery, metaphor,
alliteration... you name it. Avoid clichs like the plague, or turn them on their heads
somehow. Experiment until you find the melody lines that best show off your lyrics,
and vice versa. Salt your song with enough repetition to make it memorable, but not
so much that it becomes predictable. Use chord progressions that are fresh,
stimulating the ear rather than lulling it into complacency.

When it comes time for the ultimate payoff, your Hook, don't settle! This is your
Money Shot, and most music biz pros will hit the "eject" button if they don't hear a
strong hook in one listen. One listen! Here are a few ways to enhance your hook:

Construct your song so that all roads, lyrically and melodically, lead to your
hook.

Remember that famous music business adage: "Don't bore us, get to the
chorus."

More hooks is merrier! Instrumental riffs, backups, rhythmical chord movement,
and verse melodies can provide secondary hooks.

Fear not repetition (up to a point, of course).

Throw in memorable "monkey wrench" words that stand out.

Make sure the world can sing along.

Play with the language: use slang, twists of phrase, even invent a new word!

Finally, People Behind Desks really appreciate it if you know your marketplace. Don't
submit a country ballad when their artist is a heavy metal guitar-shredder. And if
you're the performer, have at least 3 crowd-pleasing, radio-ready songs in hand
before you shop a deal. Make a detailed study of the hits in your chosen genres, and
incorporate those lessons into your work. The Internet has made it incredibly easy
to educate yourself about what's selling these days, so there's no excuse for
ignorance.

Look at the world for a moment from the perspective of a music industry pro: They'll
respond positively if they think your song will save their job. By bringing them
dynamic, single-worthy, heartfelt material you'll be well on your way to doing just
that, and creating a career for yourself as well.

Happy songwriting!

Everything Sounds Like Coldplay Now

Mitch Has his Own Radio Show and Appears Regularly at Several Comedy Clubs in the UK. This Single was Even Mentioned in One of the Reviews of Coldplay's "x&y" Album.

I took my bike during 2007 Rainbow Festival in Malm, Sweden, to go to an evening of queer poetry with Jan Hammarlund. Jan is the first openly gay artist who was played in Swedish radio in the 70s, that way he himself is a part of our LGBT heritage. The program read: 2000 years of queer poetry round the Mediterranean sea. Sappho, Catullus, Kavafi. In some way I could feel it was interconnected with my own recital, performed the day before - Music from the closet.

Classical music and the composers/ poets/ artists/ mathematicians etc and so on, imprisoned in the closet by others. I felt relaxed after the successful performance and ready to fill up with new inspiration. I did get inspired but in ways I had not thought about. It hit me, with a force, that what we had both done with our programs was to point the finger at something we seldom talk about. Our history. Our unfathomably rich history. I say unfathomably as we are not talking about little side tracks or behind the scenes people here!

Three of the most well known pictures in the world are made by the same artist. Every body knows his name. Few dare to say he was gay. By not telling things the way they are, by pushing the most important icons of the western world into the closet century after century, by distortion and lies and silence all of us whom belong amongst the LGBT crowd are forced to live within a false lack of historic perspectives. This in spite o the fact that we really do have a very rich heritage to get inspired by. Instead the focus is put on hate crimes, aids and HIV. This way we can be referred to as victims, poor them and the majority can place themselves on a slightly higher level. I mean, really, who wants to admire and get inspired by a dyke? Nadia Boulanger, Michelangelo, Joan of Arc, Leonardo da Vinci, Aaron Copland, Handel, Schubert and Sappho how human where they? Human enough to be counted amongst those contributing to the development of our society and proud western heritage? Apparently. But would they be allowed to get married - today?

Would Rumi survive in Iran these days? Probably not... So I am asking myself: Who is supposed to be able to take part of the human rights and the heritage of humanity? Which ones are a little more human, a little more important than others? Which ones are less important? Who decides? And not least I ask my self: What of immeasurable value has been created by LGBT people? No one of "those deciding" would really dispute that Leonardo da Vinci is very important to this day. But was he human? Was he human enough to take part of the same rights that heterosexuals have? I think we can say no to that. He was not. Not then and not now!

What I and Jan did during the Rainbow Festival here in Sweden, was to actively lift some of the most important cultural icons out of the closet. Some giants of which western society is constantly in debt. We use our professions to dare say what is constantly hidden from us. Things like: Apparently Leonardo da Vinci was gay! You see, when I hear Jan Hammarlund read Catullus addressing another man, so erotic it bites the skin, I have to laugh out loud. Laugh because I blush, because it is such high standards and because he was one of us. Sappho, Catullus and Kavafi are all part of our honorable LGBT past. We have to understand that if "we" do not say that out loud "they" will not say it for us. More queer poems to the people! Not bad, eh?

X & Y

Customer Review: The first mild disapointment from coldplay
If Coldplay is generation Y's U2, that would mean "Rush of Blood to the Head" is its Joshua Tree. In turn that would mean that the next list of albums will turn out to be minor disapointments. It may also mean that due to Gen Y's short attention span, Coldplay will not last nearly as long, and have fewer good albums. It really is too bad, as they have taken over the artsy british rock crown from Radiohead. Now, there are two kinds of fans who will buy this album. Those who want to listen to Coldplay, and Chris Martin lovers. I myself am a coldplay lover. Don't get me wrong, Chris Martin is the perfect vocalist for this band and without his piano work Coldplay wouldn't be what it is today. But the problem with this album is the focus is drifting too much on Chris Martin and not the music. Sure, its good for business to have a sex symbol being the main focus of a band, but the art will struggle because of it. Before, in Parachutes and Rush of Blood to the Head, there was a perfect balance between Coldplay and Chris Martin, between the Music and the Man. Now that balance has completely gone askew. It shows in the slower songs that a certain pretentiousness is arising, and a naivity that is far more blatant than before. I guess the thing that really bothers me is Chris Martin singing without any music, which to me seems silly, and very self-important in contrast to a good supporting cast. 3 stars, however, is not enough. I wanted to give it 3 1/2, but 4 would have been pushing it. Some of the music has amazing flows. The drumming is solid, and the guitar distortions are exceptionally effective. The lyrics, are very hit and miss. Some of them, are simply stunning. Others are extremely naive, or even pompous. The best songs, the music flows pleasantly, and works surprisingly well. If every song followed a similar logic, this album would be stunning, but it would also be harder for singles to be released. Again, good for business, but bad for art. 1. Square One: 4/5 One of the better songs on this album, it starts off well, has some good parts, but the ending is almost spoiled by shoddy and naive lyrics. 2. What if: 3/5 Very inconsistent in terms of both instrumentals, and flow. A bad introduction, with occasional parts of brilliance. Unorganized, flawed, and naive, with promise however. 3. White Shadows: 5/5. The best song on this album, amazing use of distortions, back-up vocals, and overall instrumentation. This is another perfect balance between Coldplay and Chris. Lyrics are boarderline strong, and some of them are very well done. 4. Fix you: 2/5. Allright, i dont watch the OC. This is the worst song on the CD, and released as a single. The opening is simply cheesy, as are the lyrics. This is sadly the new direction of Coldplay, or should i say Chris Martin. Even the vocals at the beginning, the vocals are strangely poor. This song is almost completely done by chris, at least the 1st 1/2. It does finally pick up about 2 mins in, which is far too long. If you are a coldplay fan, fear this if it is the future(Think of the last several U2 albums). When the group sings together it is unnecessary and doesnt really add to this song, it just sounds cheesy. 5. Talk 3.5/5. A better song on this album, is very inconsistent. The lyrics aren't that great, and there are sections that are poorly done. But the chorus is somewhat well constructed and has instances of being enjoyable, even some of the lyrics are great, but overall mediocre. 6. X&Y 3.5/5 Another poor introduction, but this song does in fact get better. The rhythm is simple, but effective. Lyrics, again mediocre. Good guitar work, and drumming is flawless. 7. Speed of Sound: 4/5. This single released from the album is good, the only thing preventing itself from being amazing is the fact that at parts it is nearly identical to clocks. Amazing guitar distortions, and the bass gives a good heartbeat to the song. Above average lyrics, and a good balance between focus on the band and chris martin, at least relatively. I think maybe the piano, though good could have been toned down a bit. 8. A Message: 4/5. A newer version of sparks, but there is nothing wrong with that. At least the music doesnt suffer. As for chris martin this is a good use of his talents, and his band backing him up. 9. Low : 4.5/5. One of the far better songs on this CD. The lyrics are above average. The riffs are basic, but good nonetheless. Perhaps what is so good about Chris Martin is that the lines between his singing and talking are very blurred. He has a very good voice, he can raise an octave without any noticeable difference, seemingly completely calm, talk-singing, and then belt out a high pitched sound with great flow. It can also come down with equal fluidity. This song showcases it, but not at the expense of the band. 10. The Hardest Part: 3.5/5, I don't have any significant complaints, of things that havent allready been heard. It has good flow, and balance. I love the guitar about 1:20 into it. But at the same time, it is nothing special, and as far as coldplay goes, its not up with their other music. 11. Swallowed in the Sea: 4/5. Allthough it is guilty of the general complaint i had about this album, the lyrics are stunning. The sounds backing up chris' voice, create a mystical fairy tale feel to it. The band slowly comes back into it, first guitarist then bassist and drummer. The pace gets faster, which works. 12. Twisted Logic 3.5/5. Still guilty of the main complaint. But instrumentally becomes something much more. Perhaps you can see what i mean in my major complaint. With a strong instrumental, why do we need to hear Chris Martin sing by himself? Why should the spotlight solely be on him? It just seems silly. Now here him with his band, isnt it so much better? 13. Kingdom Come: 5/5. Another song i like. It is a very good ballad, lyrically it is very good, and musically very well written. Nothing spectacular, but very well put together instrumentally. It is simply effective, that is why it is so good. The album could not have closed on a better song, kind of unorthodox for coldplay but that does not matter. I know, i may get a lot of responses, and that this will be a very controversial. If you are a coldplay lover, not a chris martin lover, then listen to my review after hearing the entire CD for a while. The overall flow of the CD is marred slightly by some of its poor songs, but a good effort, not just what i expected after Rush of Blood to the head.
Customer Review: Xcellent & Y
This album is great. It's hard-hitting, lacks pretension when pretension could have been easily inserted, and has generally good songs. The only reason I am giving this album four stars is because Coldplay's sophomore studio album, "A Rush of Blood to the Head" is a classic album. It is a five-star effort, and X&Y, although good, falls short of greatness in comparison to "Rush of Blood". I wouldn't recommend this album to new Coldplay fans, but rather, to die-hards who know what to expect from the band. It's spacey, it's cool, it's another consistently good Coldplay album.

Customer Review: SAXOLOCO put on your dancin 'shoes
Im far from a Kenny G fan, but another late night comin home from a ballgame , another 6 innings at 3rd base gig, tired and on an adrenaline journey I had to wait 30 minutes, parked in my Metro Atlanta driveway! why?, this song reached out over WJZC and grabbed me by the collar sayin..."Hold on mon!! dis is a gateway tune!!! find out who this is, although Kenny's distinctive soprano sax shouldve alerted me. Gateway indeed, up temp and pleasantly surprising moving me from that post game mood into a grab my babe, put on my dancin shoes, and Brasilia, here we come!!! I could care less about the criticisms, the minutia or esoterica, by other reviewers of more "refined" jazz tastes.... these songs, individually, or collectively made me feel good, perhaps its cause my babe/lady/ wife is lightly latin and these songs got me ready to move n groove... SAXOLOCO was the door opener for a pleasently refreshing, mood enhancing experience for me/us.... Hey isnt dat what de moosic spose to do bro!!!! garmankirk
Customer Review: GREAT CD
I bought this CD for my parents who love to ballroom dance. THEY LOVED THIS CD!!!!!!

Vaginal itching - How many women have found them self in a situation where the urge to relieve an itch around their private parts becomes so unbearable that they had to leave the room to relieve the urge (scratch) so not to cause embarrassment to them self or that of others in their company. Remember ladies that trying to disguise the discomfort by tightening the legs to squeeze the life out of the vaginal itch is not the best approach to claim relief. If you attempt this course of action then there is a strong possibility that an onlooker may see you as doing the rumba, which is not really an acceptable image of yourself if standing in a bus queue.

An itchy vagina can become painful if the skin around the affected area is rubbed red raw through clawing. A tingling sensation and irritation of the skin around the vagina.(vulva) is how the condition is described Not only is vaginal itching annoying it tempts the patient to scratch with aggression. Hygiene is profound; the hands should be cleaned before scratching and after. Dirty finger nails that tear the skin cause infection.

Causes behind vaginal itching are varied but most common known are chemical irritants contained in certain products. Content based chemicals that come in contact with the skin which encourage irritation are detergents, fabric softeners, feminine sprays, ointments, douches, contraceptive foams or jellies.

One recognized symptom of vaginal yeast infection is a discharge - white in colour and curd-like texture. Known yeast infection causers are antibiotics, birth control tablets, menstruation, pregnancy and diabetes, even condom use and sexual intercourse. However use a condom when engaging in sex. A weak immune system can make you susceptible to infection.

Vaginitis means inflammation of the vagina, should you suffer from the disorder then cause can be blamed on the presence of an infection. Noticeable changes in your discharge i.e. smell and colour, burning feeling in the vagina, discomfort when urinating or during sex are all symptoms of vaginitis. A common cause is thrush infection (a fungus -candida albicans).

Stress can increase vaginal itching making you more prone to infection. A drop in estrogen causes thinning of the vaginal wall and less lubrication while going through the menopause. Vaginal itching can occur from one of the many named causes, however, determining which cause is important so the appropriate medication is prescribed. A rare reason for vaginal/vulva itch include: pin-worms, pin-worms more often than not are parasites more known to affect children.

Keep the genital area clean and dry. Use unscented soap when washing. Make sure smellies used to bathe in (bubble bath) contain no irritants. Avoid perfumed feminine sprays and douches unless packaging states otherwise.

Cotton knickers are safer to wear than panties made from synthetic materials. Cleanse your self by wiping from front to back after using the toilet (vagina to anus).

It is easier said than done but do try to avoid scratching, scratching can aggravate. Even more difficult for some is to ration the passion, abstain from sexual encounters until the symptoms disappear. Yeast infections are not directed towards being sexually transmitted. The yeast infection is also known to affect men following sexual contact causing itching and redness.

Despite what you believe may be the right medication bought from the chemist to treat you`re infection, it is best to consult a doctor first. Seek medical advice if you notice signs of vaginal bleeding when not menstruating, swelling or detect a repulsive vaginal odor. A burning sensation when urinating or other urinary symptoms may be urinary tract infection. Antifungal drugs are normally prescribed for yeast infections.

Antibiotics in most cases are prescribed for bacterial vaginal infections and some sexually transmitted diseases, however, if protection is used it lessens the odds of catching an STD and also an unwanted pregnancy of which will definitely highlight the vagina for the next nine months.
