Upon Arrival

Now that you're here, it's time to start interviewing. Wear professional clothes (no shorts, jeans, tank tops, or sandals) and go to the schools you contacted with your CV in hand. After interviewing you may have to do a short demo lesson, but don't worry, relax and smile.

Entering the Country

Each country has different visa rules for different nationalities. While some countries give tourist visas upon arrival, others may require you to get on beforehand. In addition, some countries require round-trip tickets or proof-of-funds before they let you on the plane or into the country. Check with the Embassy beforehand. You don't want to arrive only to have Immigrations refuse you entry.

Length of Stay

Again, it depends. Some countries allow only 180 days out of the year. Others give you 90 days, and then let you renew your visa for up to three months, and then have you leave the country. Others make you pay a fine if you overstay your visa.

Working on a Tourist Visa

It's not uncommon for people to work on tourist visas. Just don't tell the authorities that you are. If you are working on a tourist visa, you may have to border-hop every once in a while. You simply leave the country, stay in another one for a couple of days, and then re-enter and are given a new tourist visa that's good for X amount of days.

Or, if the country you are in fines people who overstay, you could just overstay your visa and pay the fine as you leave. It might be cheaper than border-hopping.

Getting a Work Visa

Primary and Secondary Schools are more likely to get you a work visa than other places, although universities will do so as well. Check with your employer about what you need to bring. Often you will need to get your original university degree Apostillised in your home country before.

Signing a Contract

After you've passed your interview and demo lesson, you will probably be asked to sign a contract. Make sure you read everything, including the fine print. Some places have "no compete" policies. This varies from school to school and can mean anything from not being able to teach at another school while you work for them, not being able to teach privates, or even not being able to teach in the same city for X months after you finish their contract. So make sure you ask questions about anything you don't understand.

The book consists mostly of transcriptions of every note Oscar plays on the accompanying CDs. Some amazing music, and logically progressing from simple to complex examples of each style.

This is a MASSIVE book (262 pages!) of latin bass in all it's various styles. We are not talking simple repetive patterns here either, we are talking from moderate to complex lines with excellent notation and a top notch CD set behind it. If you want to learn Latin Bass, you can start here, and stop here, as you won't find more and better probably anywhere else. Although it is not a Real Book, You can think of that kind of setup and variety.
Customer Review: Good intro to latin bass playing
This book is well thought, thorough and enjoyable. Comes with 3 CDs that stand alone on their own, if you don't mind having bass on one side and the rest of the band on the other. This arrangement allows you to pan the track and play along with the band, or focus on the bass line only. I googled some of the guys who play with Oscar in these CDs and they are first rate musicians with impressive resumes (try Rebeca Mauleón). It comes with no tab, but the first bass lines are simple enough so it wouldn't be a bad place to start reading, and once you understand the beats and where the bassline falls, you should be in a good position to read almost anything! The book takes you to a series of concepts that become more complex from track to track in a well thought way, so you build on your understanding of the subject. Probably the hardest part is to keep yourself from dancing while you play along to the CDs! A good purchase.

Many people realize that satellite TV is available in the United States, but not everyone is aware of the various locations where satellite television can be found throughout the world. Locations for satellite television include the Americas, Africa, Asia, Europe, and more.

In Africa, there are many locations where satellite television is the only option. The infrastructure for cable television does not exist in almost any part of Africa, nor would it be cost effective to install because most Africans could not afford the prices associated with cable television.

Therefore, satellite television opens up the possibility to channels that are broadcasted in English, French, German, and Portuguese, as well as some African languages. The masses in Africa can also access satellite television through Free2view, which broadcasts news from MSNBC, as well as other channels that continue to be added.

In the Americas, options and locations for satellite television vary for Canada, the United States, and parts of Latin America. In Canada, there are two legal options, which do not include American satellite providers. However, most people in Canada still have access to American services and pirated services, which are both considered to be part of the Canadian satellite television black market.

Similarly, Latin America's dependence on satellite television is limited to the Latin-based satellite system, SKY Latin America, in Brazil and Mexico, and DirecTV Latin America in the rest of the South American countries. DirecTV, which also has United States locations for satellite television providers, currently competes with Dish Network for household satellites services throughout the majority of states.

Throughout Asia, locations for satellite television providers are more numerous that in other areas of the world. In Bangladesh alone there are at least a dozen different satellite services. While India has at least three primary providers, Malaysia is limited to Measat Broadcast Network Systems, which is the sole satellite television operator in the area.

In other areas, like Europe, there are large gains in the technology and locations of satellite TV. Depending on whether you are in Central Europe, the Netherlands, or Italy, your main providers will vary, as will the number of people who use this type of television programming as their primary service. For some areas, like Belgium and the Netherlands, the completion from cable networks that provide exclusive content can overpower the benefits provided by satellite services.

Competition in various locations for satellite television caused a competitive bidding war in the United Kingdom between Sky and BSB. However, eventually the two companies merged to form BSkyB, which later became Sky Digital.

Wherever you are located, there are sure to be a number of ways that you can research any available satellite television options for you. However, it is also important to keep in mind that in many locations, satellite television providers are offering free-to-air channels. Although these often include your basic channels, it can affect how satellite services are presented, and priced, in your area.

Rumi certainly had a way with words. Dancing is the motion of freedom; it connects me to the sound of my inner music, which is constantly playing in awareness.
Rumi was the original dancing mystic; he connected to his inner self by twirling, and this dance became the art of worship for his followers. Dancing has been used for centuries by cultures around the world to honor and worship a higher power.

Dancing takes me to a free zone where I can be myself and share my freedom with others. My body moves in gestures of playfulness and lighthearted actions that come from within me. I am in another place; a place of well being where there is only a feeling of my spirit gliding through the air of physical existence. Dancing is the art of lifting my ego to the door of awakening. Dancing makes me feel good; it brings out another part of me that bonds with the world around me. I am a particle of ecstasy floating with other particles that reach out and touch the stars. Dancing with the stars I become one of them in the artful movement of oneness. My consciousness is free to focus on other moments of reality and refresh my purpose of existence. The dance changes me into what I have always been but forgot I am; a dream of grand expansion.

The philosopher Friedrick Nietzsche explains dancing this way:

In song and dance man expresses himself as a member of a higher community; he has forgotten how to walk and speak and is on the way toward flying, dancing into the air. His very gestures are of enchantment... He feels himself to be a god, going about in ecstasy, exalted, like the gods beheld in his dreams... He is no longer an artist, he has become a work of art. In a paroxysm of intoxication the creative power of all nature has come to light in him at the highest rapture of the one that is All. My dance fills the cracks in my thinking; paints my world with brightness and showers my reality with abundance.

Thankfully, one of the ways we can relieve stress is by putting on some relaxing music. Some love to listen to nature sounds. Some quiet piano music. Whatever you are attracted to, take a minute to sit down, close your eyes, and listen.

Your heart rate and breathing will start to slow down along with your thoughts. As you tune in to the sound of the music, you let go of the cares and concerns of the outer world. Now, an inner journey begins to take place.

After listening for a few minutes, you find yourself feeling refreshed and renewed, as if a blanket of sound has washed you clean. And all you had to do was put a CD in your player. Listening to music is a great way to reduce stress levels. Playing music can actually reduce stress even further.

As we approach our chosen instrument, we settle into a happy routine that always brings us comfort and joy. As a piano player, I love preparing to play. The act of sliding the bench out, of touching the keys and placing my hands on a chord all contribute to a calming ritual that allows me to relax and unwind. And then as I play, cares and concerns of this world slowly drop off my shoulders and I am transported into a place where peace is present.
